FLORENCE - A panoramic view of the skyline of Florence (Firenze) from the Plazza Michelangelo acroos the Arno. The tower on the left is Giotto's Bell Tower, or The Campanille of the Duomo (the Cathedral). Brunelleschi's magical dome is the most prominent feature of the skyline. Crowning the dome is the 2 meter diameter gilded ball placed on top of the copola (the lantern) by 19 yr. old Leonardo. On the right, the spire may belong to the Santa Croce, where the greatest sons of Florence are buried, among then Michelangelo, Machiavelli, Dante and Galileo. Leanardo is buried in Amboise, France, and in reality, Dante is buried in Ravenna, where he was born, and a place is kept for him in Florence, in case he is brought here in the future.
